Lingfield MUN travel to PraMUN
In January, 16 MUN students travelled to Prague for the PRAMUN Conference held at the prestigious Jan Neruda High School. The students represented Japan and Finland and one student, on the Historical Committee, represented Malaysia. Almost 450 Students from across the world attended this conference, including three schools from the UK.
As usual, our students prepared diligently for this conference; they wrote resolutions on their topics, prepared open speeches, and read about their topics so that they could participate in discussions. They were excited by the serious approach to debate in all committees. Despite some procedures being slightly different, our students were not deterred and continued to represent their countries confidently.
The organisers classify this conference as non-competitive so no awards were given out. Instead, the accolade was being selected to speak on a resolution at the General Assembly. Out of 16 committees and 32 resolutions, 6 of our amazing students were selected to speak: Aryan, Miko, Ella, James, Nathan and Simreth must be congratulated for representing the school so positively and once again making us so proud to be their teachers.
In addition to the conference, our experience was enriched by the cultural programme that the organisers had arranged. We are grateful to the parents who continue to support MUN and value the skills and opportunities that their children receive by participating in these events. Students are now preparing for Haileybury MUN in March
The Prague trip was one of the most interesting and best school trips I have had at Lingfield College. Being able to explore the historic city and experience the varied cultural aspects was fascinating; I would highly recommend everyone visit in their lifetime. Taking part in the MUN aspect added to the experience with a large number of schools being present. Being able to engage with new people and make friends across Europe made it very pleasurable and I very much enjoyed the interesting debates . Thank you to Mrs Halling-Brown and all involved, it has definitely been a highlight of Sixth Form so far.
