Lingfield College was thrilled to welcome alumni Olly (2016) and Josh Carr (2016) back on Wednesday afternoon for the latest Headmaster’s Lecture. The duo shared their awe-inspiring journey and the incredible challenge they took on in September 2023 to raise funds for WWF UK.
Their adventure, known as The Great Glen Project, tested their mental and physical limits. Olly and Josh successfully completed a gruelling series of feats, which included:
-
A combined 500kg Powerlifting total (Squat, Bench Press, Deadlift)
-
A 120km swim across rivers and lochs from Inverness to Fort William
-
An ascent to the summit of Ben Nevis, the highest peak in the UK
The lecture captivated students and staff alike as Olly and Josh spoke about the immense endurance and determination required to accomplish such an extraordinary feat. Their story of perseverance was nothing short of inspirational, reminding everyone of the power of starting with passion and finishing with dedication.
“Be naive enough to start and stubborn enough to finish,” Olly and Josh shared, leaving the Lingfield community eager to see their next adventure.
