Paralympian Will Bayley Visits Lingfield College

Paralympian Will Bayley Visits Lingfield College

As part of Lingfield's Headmaster Lecture Series, we welcomed an extraordinary guest speaker: Paralympian Will Bayley. Known for his incredible achievements in table tennis, Will’s story is one of triumph over adversity.

Will’s engaging talk provided a unique opportunity for students to hear firsthand about his journey to becoming a world-class athlete. Diagnosed with arthrogryposis as a child and later facing cancer, Will has never let his setbacks define him. Instead, he used them as stepping stones to greatness. From intense training sessions in China to representing Great Britain globally, his story resonated deeply with the young audience.

Will highlighted the importance of resilience, determination, and a positive mindset in adversity to students. “It’s not about how many times you fall,” he shared passionately, “but how many times you get back up.” These words struck a chord with many, reminding them that setbacks are simply opportunities to grow stronger.

The students asked thoughtful questions to Will, ranging from how he prepares for competitions, who his biggest competition is and how he stays motivated. His candid answers and warm approach made for a memorable event, with students and staff leaving the room inspired and uplifted.

Will Bayley’s visit will leave a lasting impression on Years 7 and 8. As they continue their journey at Lingfield College, we hope they carry forward his message of resilience and determination, using it to fuel their aspirations.
