British Council International School Award Success for Lingfield Prep
We are delighted to announce that Lingfield Prep has been awarded Foundation level of the British Council’s prestigious International School Award in recognition of its work to bring the world into the classroom.
Thank you to all our staff who worked hard to achieve this award. In particular, Prep MFL teacher Mrs Milne, who, as part of European Day of Languages, launched the British Council's Great Spanish and French Language Challenge. The Challenge has a number of tasks that pupils could carry out in lessons and as homework, including:
- Trying a new food from France/Spain such as a Galette des Rois
- Discovering the capital cities of 10 Spanish-speaking countries
- Researching a Hispanic festival and presenting it to classmates
- Learning a song in a different language
- Setting up a partnership with schools overseas - year 6 sent Christmas cards to a school in Madrid
- Trying to cook a recipe from France.
You have demonstrated an excellent start in promoting the international dimension across the school and highlighting the benefits of learning in a global context.
THe British Council
