Miss Sophie Brack, Director of Music
A special mention to two year 13 students; Rupert, who passed the ARSM Diploma in Music with Distinction, and Simreth, who passed grade 8 piano, also with Distinction. Their impressive grades reflect the dedication that goes into preparing for higher-level exams.
Rupert
ARSM Diploma in Music - passed with distinction
This certificate is for learners beyond grade 8. It's an opportunity to create and present an extended programme of music and demonstrate performance skills.
Rupert is a wonderful ambassador for Lingfield Music; his love of music and performing is evident at all our concerts and musical events. He has even taken on hosting the music department's informal recitals.
Simreth
Grade 8 Piano - passed with distinction
A distinction at Grade 8 earns 30 UCAS points which is similar to a grade C at A Level.
Simreth has been an outstanding representative of the Performing Arts Department, actively participating in concerts and drama productions throughout his Senior School years.
Lingfield Music
Playing an instrument can help students in all areas of their learning. Research has shown that reading rhythms and notes helps students with their mathematical skills and is a vehicle through which they can express themselves.
Our Music Department offers a range of opportunities for one-to-one instrumental lessons. All our instrumental teachers are experts in their fields and offer pupils the chance to excel in their chosen instrument. As a centre for ABRSM, Trinity, and London College of Music, students can take their grade exams on-site. Students are also encouraged to perform throughout the year in concerts and recitals such as Jazz and Rock night and Spring Concert at Senior School, and Michaelmas Concert and Spring Sing at Prep School. We offer music scholarships to talented individuals in Years 5, 7, 9 and 12. Join us at our Prep School Open Morning on 8th March to find out more.
