Lingfield U13 Crowned Cup Winners at ISA National Hockey Tournament
On Tuesday, the U13 Hockey Team travelled to Lee Valley for the ISA National Hockey Tournament.
Lingfield were in group C with several strong teams, with only the top team advancing through to the Cup Knockout Rounds.
It was a tough start to the day as the boys came up against Ardingly, a team we had previously lost to this season. This time, we held on for a 1-1 draw. A comfortable win against LVS Ascot and a goalless draw against a very strong Westonbirt side left the team needing a win against St Edward's to advance, where the victory was secured, and Lingfield progressed to the Semi-Finals.
In the semi-final, the team were under pressure as they came up against New Hall. With some strong defending and saves, the U13 boys held on for a draw, where the game was then decided on Penalty Strokes. Lingfield won 3-2 and advanced to the final.
A break before the final gave the team plenty of time to rest and some nerves to build up. The team came up against Derby Grammar with some talented individuals awaiting us. Lingfield's defence kept us in the game, and then a chance came on a breakaway, and the boys were clinical in their execution. This meant the game finished 1-0 to Lingfield, and they were crowned ISA U13 Boys National Hockey Cup Winners.
