Lingfield Scholars Uncover the Marvels of Elemental Origins
Lingfield Scholar students delve into the awe-inspiring origins of every element within our bodies.
Prep Scholars joined Senior School Scholars in years 7 and 8 in a captivating scholarship session held by Head of Physics, Mr Hawley, who embarked on a cosmic journey, unravelling the awe-inspiring origins of every element that constitutes their very beings. The exploration took them from the grandeur of the Big Bang to the mesmerising collisions of neutron stars, offering a brief yet fascinating introduction to the cosmic processes that have shaped the elements within their bodies.
The session commenced with exploring the colossal event that set the stage for the formation of all elements in the universe—the Big Bang. Students delved into the primordial explosion that gave birth to space, time, and the fundamental building blocks of matter.
The scholars marvelled at the interconnectedness of cosmic processes, realising that the very atoms within them were forged in the heart of stars and moulded through the crucible of cosmic cataclysms. The session gave them a deeper understanding of the remarkable journey that has shaped the elements within them, sparking a curiosity about the cosmic forces that continue to shape the universe and everything within it.
