History Students Enhance their Knowledge in Berlin
GCSE and A Level History students started the Easter holiday with an action-packed trip to Berlin. They spent four days enhancing their studies and soaking up the atmosphere of historic Berlin, visiting sights such as Checkpoint Charlie, Brandenburg Gate, and Topography of Terror.
"My trip to Berlin started very early at Gatwick Airport. When we arrived, we went into Alexander Platz where I had my first taste of currywurst and chips which was really delicious. A visit to Checkpoint Charlie followed which I found very interesting. On day two, we headed to the Holocaust Concentration Camp, which was very moving. I didn’t realise how many lost their lives and how powerful the SS were.
My favourite part of the trip was a tour of the Olympic Stadium, which is home to the Berlin football team. I also found out that it's where Usain Bolt got his 100m world record. On our final day, we visited Reichstag Dome which had great views of the city. Overall, it was a great trip and very informative."
