GCSE Success at Lingfield: A Year of Academic Achievement

GCSE Success at Lingfield: A Year of Academic Achievement

Following last week's outstanding A Level results, Lingfield College students, staff, and their families are once again celebrating after receiving their GCSE results.

This year has seen strong outcomes across the curriculum, with many students reaching significant personal milestones. Almost half of all exams taken were awarded grades 7,8 or 9 -equivalent to an A*/A in the old grading system - with over 1 in 4 of all grades receiving the highest marks of 8 and 9. Overall, Lingfield achieved an impressive 97% pass rate across all subjects.

Amongst the results, STEM subjects continue to demonstrate strength, with 65% of students in Triple Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) achieving grade 7 or above. In humanities, Religious Studies saw 62% of students achieving grade 7 or higher, while History followed closely with 60% of students reaching the top grades, demonstrating consistent academic performance across the board.

Headmaster Richard Bool shared his thoughts on the achievement," I am delighted with our students' accomplishments. They have shown dedication and enthusiasm in their studies, and I am pleased that their hard work has been rewarded. I am also thankful to our teachers, who deliver an exceptional education alongside strong pastoral care, bringing out the best in each student."

He added, “What I think truly sets a Lingfield student apart is their wide range of interests and talents. Our Year 11s are genuine 'all-rounders,' excelling in extracurricular activities—from the stage to the sports field, music, expeditions, clubs and debating—while also achieving strong academic results. This well-rounded success is reflected in the significant number of students moving on to our Sixth Form. With the largest Year 7 intake this September and continued high demand for places in the Prep School, we are proud of the growing interest in our school."

Deputy Head Academic Craig Fast said, “I am exceptionally pleased to see so many of our students achieve such strong results. They provide a solid foundation for their continued academic journey, and I look forward to seeing them thrive in the Sixth Form.”

The majority of students will return in September to start in our Sixth Form, where they will continue their studies in a dynamic and supportive environment alongside new students joining from other schools.
