Lingfield Colts are Plate winners at ISA National Hockey Tournament

On Thursday 1st February, our Colts A hockey team travelled to compete in the ISA National Hockey Finals at Lee Valley Hockey Centre. 

The boys began the day with two frustrating draws against Radnor House and Cundall Manor, in which we were the better side in both matches but failed to find the breakthrough. The boys went on to win their remaining two group matches against Thorpe Hall and Avon House, both 2-0.

Despite an unbeaten run in the group stage, the team narrowly missed out on top spot and would compete in the Plate competition in the next round of matches. In the semi-final we faced Claremont School and a well-worked short corner routine midway through the match secured a 1-0 victory. Weston Green were our opponents in the final and after neither side could score in normal time, it would be decided by penalty shuffles, which we won 2-1.  

The boys' performance improved as the tournament progressed and they should be extremely proud of their achievement, remaining unbeaten throughout the day.
