7 Lingfield Pupils Qualify for National Cross Country Championships

On Tuesday, 25th February, 17 of our athletes visited Radnor House for the ISA Regional Cross Country event.

The first competitors to race were the U9 girls over 1500m. Clara finished in third place, winning a bronze medal, Jemima in 10th, Harriet in 13th, and Alicia in 18th. This strong set of results meant that we finished in first place in the team event, and two of our team members are still in year 3!

Next to compete over the same distance were our U9 boys. Another strong set of results ensured another 1st place in the team event for Lingfield! Reggie finished in 4th, Jeremiah 6th, Liam 16th and Hector 22nd.

In the U11 girls’ race, our runners had to tackle a longer course of 2000m. Ava was our first girl home in 7th place, Lucy in 29th, Olivia in 35th and Inky in 42nd.  The girls all ran with determination, and again, we had two girls in Year 5, who will hopefully be back next year.

Our U11 boys ran the final race of the day, with Beau finishing strongly in 4th place. Harvey was next to cross the line in the 8th, followed by Luca in the 13th, Henry in the 19th, and Noah in the 55th. Another strong set of results culminated in Lingfield winning the U11 boys team event.

The top 10 in each race will represent the London South regional team at the Nationals on Sunday, March 9th, at Mallory Park Circuit in Leicestershire. Good luck to Clara, Jemima, Reggie, Jeremiah, Ava, Beau, and Harvey, who all qualified from their respective races.

U9 squad:

U11 squad:

Many congratulations to all our athletes who competed with determination. Our children performed brilliantly against some talented runners from 16 schools across the region.
