Lingfield Celebrates European Week of Languages
This week, Lingfield College has been celebrating the European Week of Languages.
The week started with an assembly presented by Miss Fournès, Head of MFL, and Mr Gonachon, Head of Year 9, with input from our talented language captains: Amélie, Julian and Adam.
To celebrate our multinational community, some teachers and students kindly volunteered to teach some taster lessons in a language they had learnt from their families or by living or working abroad. The week kicked off with a packed group of scholars and students learning how to write their names in Gujarati, as well as the rich cultural and gastronomical culture of this language, led by Miss Shah. On Wednesday, Mr Spring, Science Technician, and Music teacher, Mrs Fan, delighted our students with an animated Mandarin lesson. On Thursday, our students enjoyed learning some catchy phrases in Afrikaans, lead by Mrs van der Merwe and her helpful assistant Sophia. It was encouraging to welcome five Scholars from the Prep School, who delighted us with their excellent pronunciation and quick vocabulary acquisition skills whilst holding Meneer Olifant!
The experience was complemented by some delicious French-themed dishes prepared by our Catering Team, which students and staff enjoyed.
Thank you to all the teachers and students from the Senior and Prep Schools who participated in the events and to the Catering Staff for their kind participation and extra work.
