Scholars Present Innovative Research at Annual Academic Symposium

Lingfield Academic Scholar presenting at the Scholar's Symposium

Congratulations to our Senior School Academic Scholars, who presented their essays to an audience of staff and parents this week at our annual Scholars' Symposium.

Each year, as part of the Academic Scholars' programme, students in years 7-10 work independently to produce a thoroughly researched, well-structured 2000-word essay on a topic of their choice. This year, Scholars wrote about a wide range of subjects, including:

'To what extent does civil engineering affect climate change?'

'Are Generation Z more likely to risk their life for a trend than previous generations?'

'Are you addicted to your mobile phone?'

'Has the United Nations learnt from the failures of the League of Nations?'

The symposium evening allows students to present their essays, explain why they chose their titles, and answer any questions. The scholars are assessed using AQA EPQ criteria, and a shortlist is chosen from each year's group, where the students are interviewed by Head of Scholars Mrs Hubbard and Headmaster Mr Bool.

Well done to all our Scholars this year.
