Students Gain Insight into Computing in Healthcare Through Lecture Series
We are grateful to Dr Mark Halling-Brown, who gave students a fascinating insight into the world of 'Computing in Healthcare' at our first Headmaster’s Lecture of this academic year.
Dr Halling-Brown is Head of Scientific Computing at Royal Surrey County Hospital. He covered projects that he has worked on throughout his career, such as using computing to design virus vaccines, identify donor matching for treating leukaemia and designing AI for diagnostics in healthcare (such as breast cancer). He also discussed computing careers in the NHS as Clinical Scientists.
As part of our enrichment programme, The Headmaster Lecture series hosts a variety of speakers from all walks of life with the intention of stimulating students to think more widely about the world around them and their place in it.
I was really interested to hear how Chemistry is used in the NHS as this is a subject I want to study further.
