The Butterfly Lion: A Roaring Success on Stage
On 12th and 13th June, two sold-out audiences saw Lingfield’s latest production; a Lower School performance of Michael Morpurgo’s ‘The Butterfly Lion’. Students across Years 7, 8, and 9 used a mixture of loveable characters, puppetry and movement to tell the story of Bertie Andrews and his beloved white lion. The impressive set, costumes and lighting added the extra touches to bring the story to life with moments of humour, tension, and tenderness.
Our talented young actors brought this heartwarming story to life with passion and creativity. Well done to all involved!

The Butterfly Lion is a tale of a little boy named Bertie who rescues an orphaned white lion cub from the African veld. The pair are inseparable until Bertie is sent to boarding school in England and the Lion is sold to the circus. Bertie swears that one day, they will see one another again, but it is the butterfly lion that ensures their friendship will never be forgotten.
