In Memory of Amelia

The Lingfield College community has been deeply saddened by the loss of Amelia Carlisle, a Sixth Form student who passed away at the end of August after a courageous battle with a rare form of bone cancer. Amelia first joined our school in Year 7 and studied here all the way through to the end of Year 13. During her seven years at the School, she has touched the lives of many, including staff, her fellow students and their families. Her loss will be profoundly felt by all of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Amelia’s determination and ambition were evident from the moment she became part of our School family. She was not only a popular figure but also well-respected by her peers and teachers alike. Throughout her time here, Amelia excelled academically, with a particular passion for her A Level subjects Media, English and Business. She was also a dedicated sportswoman, representing the School as a key player of the first team for both Hockey and Netball.
Beyond her academic and sporting achievements, Amelia was known for her kindness and compassion. She radiated warmth wherever she went and had a remarkable ability to make those around her always feel valued and supported.
Alison Folkard, Head of Sixth Form, shared her thoughts, “In the face of illness, Amelia fought incredibly hard and showed an unwavering degree of strength, courage, and selflessness for someone of such a young age. She was, and will always be, an inspiration and a role model to the students here at Lingfield and a young woman of whom we can all be deeply proud. As a community we shall continue to champion the values that she lived by.”
We extend our heartfelt love and condolences to Amelia’s family and friends during this difficult time. When the time is right, we will come together as a community to find a fitting way to remember Amelia and the special contribution she has made to our school.
