Nursery Fees & FAQs

In order to maintain a seamless transition through the Foundation Stage, the expectation is that all Nursery children will progress from our Nursery to Reception. The retaining deposit (£500) is non-refundable under the following circumstances:

1. If the nursery place is not taken up.
2. A child is withdrawn before entering Reception.

Upon starting in Reception, the School’s standard terms and conditions apply. A term’s notice is required for withdrawals, and the deposit will be refunded accordingly.

We are open from: 

7.30 am – 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays, for 50 weeks of the year. We close for two weeks at Christmas.

We will go above and beyond to ensure your child is happy and content with us. In the month before your child joins us, we will arrange a short series of 'settling in sessions' to get them used to the Nursery environment and to help them start to make new friends. We tailor this process to your child, offering as many sessions as they (and you) need to feel part of our lovely Nursery. 

Yes, you can select your chosen days for each term. You also have the opportunity to arrange ad hoc sessions, (subject to availability). Children in The Cocoon, Caterpillars (age 2-3) and Butterflies (age 3-4) must attend a minimum of three morning sessions per week. 

Yes. We offer parents a choice of term time only or 50 weeks a year. If you book 50 weeks a year, you are guaranteed a place throughout the holidays, and you receive two weeks holiday allowance, where you can take your child out of Nursery at no cost. 

We need 6 weeks notice in the Nursery and one term in Prep School.

Please inform the Prep Office of any allergies or medical conditions your child may have. All Nursery staff are First Aid trained, including for anaphylaxis and the use of auto-injectors, but it is crucial we are kept up-to-date with any health concerns.

If you do not collect your child from the Nursery by the end of the day, and no contact has been made to inform us of alternative arrangements for collection, we will make every attempt to get in touch with you. If we are unsuccessful, we will contact your nominated emergency contact and request that they collect your child. The Nursery will remain open to allow time for that person to arrive. Late collection is charged at £20 to cover any associated staff costs. We ask that all parents keep us fully informed if they are held up when travelling to collect their child.

We have an open-door policy and are always happy to talk to parents at drop off and collection.  If you need a little longer, we can arrange an appointment.

All children have a Learning Journey, and their progress is monitored and recorded through Famly App. 

We also offer more formal meetings with parents twice per year to share your child's progress. Any concerns about your child's learning or development can be discussed with the Class Leader at these meetings. In some cases we may need to arrange regular meetings to keep parents fully up-to-date and may introduce a home-to-nursery communication book too. A written report is sent out at the end of the academic year and all children receive an under 3s progress report.

As children develop physically and become more confident in their environment, accidents can occasionally happen. The Nursery has several staff trained in Paediatric First Aid on-site at all times.

If your child has an accident at the Nursery, you will be informed at collection and asked to sign an accident form. In the event of a bump to the head, you will be notified by telephone. Your child will be monitored and, in most cases, will be able to continue with their day at Nursery. If a bump to the head causes concern, you will be asked to collect your child and a visit to your GP will be recommended. You will be given a copy of the accident form and a head injury advice form.

Should your child have an accident that requires further medical support, you will be contacted immediately, and the necessary action will be taken. In extreme cases, this could involve calling for the help of a paramedic.

If your child has an accident at home that has resulted in a physical injury, no matter how small, we request that you inform the staff so this can be documented and not mistaken for an accident at the Nursery.

Parents are always best placed to decide if a child is not well enough to attend Nursery. Common colds and coughs are not a problem unless the child has a high temperature with it, in which case they should stay at home until the temperature goes down without medication.

Please keep your child at home for these timescales if they are presenting with any of the following:

• Loose nappies or diarrhoea – 48 hours or until toileting returns to normal.
• Vomiting – 48 hours.
• Temperature above 38 degrees – 24 hours or until the temperature returns to normal without the need for medication.

Many children, particularly those under the age of three years, will require sleep during their time with us. The Nursery has ample sleeping facilities, and children are offered a rest period during the day, usually after lunch if they attend for the whole day.

We always try and support your child's natural routine; however, as they get older, children tend to fit into routines according to the group. We are happy to offer your child the opportunity to sleep, but we cannot make them.

Children who do not sleep will be provided with other restful activities to occupy them. Sometimes when a child hasn't had their sleep, they start to become tired towards the end of the nursery day; staff cannot keep children awake if they are tired and will allow them to sleep if they need to.

We provide all meals, snacks and water. We ask that you send in the following in a clearly labelled bag: drinking cup, nappies, wipes, sun creams, a change of clothes (or two!), a named warm coat, hat, gloves, scarf, trainers and wellington boots during winter and a sun hat and sun cream in the summer. Waterproofs are necessary for our Forest school sessions. You might also like to send in a named comforter or favourite teddy that they would sleep with at home. 

All Foundation Stage children (Nursery and Reception) go outside together at morning play and lunchtimes. We also take children outside for a focused activity; children are encouraged to play outside every day, weather permitting.

As childcare professionals, we must safeguard and promote the welfare of children. The Nursery has trained members of staff responsible for implementing our safeguarding policies and procedures. All staff in the Nursery are aware of their duties regarding child protection matters and have regular training in our protocols. 

If we deem a child to be at risk in extreme circumstances we are duty-bound to contact the local Children's Safeguarding Board to raise our concerns without seeking consultation or permission from the child's parent.

To ensure our team are suitable to care for children, they undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check before being given unsupervised access to any children. These checks are updated regularly. In addition, a staff member will not commence employment at our Nursery until two suitable written references have been obtained. We also have a trained Early Years Designated Safeguarding Leader (DSL).

Fees are billed monthly through the Famly App where there is an option to sign up to pay by Direct Debit. 

Please note that all sessions booked must be paid for, regardless of whether the child attends. Unfortunately, refunds cannot be given for sessions missed due to sickness or holidays.

Lingfield College Nursery is a registered setting for Early Years Funding, and if your child is eligible, funding is available for up to 15 hours per week and for 38 weeks per year. This is offered for afternoon sessions from 12.30 pm to 3.30 pm. The rate of this award is set by Surrey County Council and is subject to change.
