Piano Recital Spotlights Talented Musicians

Piano Recital Spotlights Talented Musicians

On Wednesday, the Senior School Music Department saw some of its most talented pianists take to the grand piano for an evening filled with famous pieces from the piano classics and some wonderful contemporary jazz and modern pieces.

The audience was given a real variety of pieces from Grade 4 to Grade 8, showing all the techniques, styles, and possibilities that can be achieved on the piano. The programme included 'Sunsets in Savannah' by Georgia (Yr8), 'Le Coucou' by Max (Year 11), 'Tuxedo Jazz' by Hector (Yr7), 'Elegy for the Arctic' by Joshua, and 'Someone Like You' by Sofia (Yr 8), to name but a few.

The evening drew to a close with our Year 13s performing some truly stunning performances of Grade 7 and 8 pieces: Chopin's 'Mazurka in A minor' by Jamie, Farrenc's 'Etude in D flat' by Lionel, Debussy's 'Reverie' by Simreth and last but not least the epic Rachmaninov's Prelude Op 3 No2 in C# minor by Rupert.

Well done to all our talented pianists!
